The power of diversity and inclusion

Equality and diversity are a top priority for the European Commission. To fight discrimination and push for more equal societies, the Commission has adopted a proactive approach, with targeted action plans and measures.

As part of ongoing efforts to make good on its commitment to foster more inclusive and fair societies in Europe, the Commission is organising for the fourth time the European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity Award. The initiative complements the annual European Diversity Month, which raises awareness about the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and across our societies.

Visual of the European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity Award

European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity Award set out to recognise, give visibility to, and to highlight the best practices of a town, city or region that can be a source of inspiration for other European cities in creating more diverse and inclusive environments for their citizens. It seeks to recognise best practices that promote diversity.

EU Diversity Month

The month of May marks European Diversity Month across the EU. We’re calling on companies and organisations across Europe to join forces with us, the European Commission, to shine a spotlight on the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and in society by organising events and activities throughout May.

The European Diversity Charters help public and private sector organisations across the EU design and implement effective diversity and inclusion policies. By signing the Charter, organisations make a public commitment to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Charters are organised at national level, with a Charter per country.
